Richard Scannell

Richard Scannell ( born May 12, 1845 in Cloyne, County Cork, Ireland, † January 8, 1916 ) was Bishop of Omaha and before the first Bishop of Concordia.

Life

Richard Scannell received on 26 February 1871, the sacrament of Holy Orders for the Diocese of Nashville.

On August 8, 1887, he was named Pope Leo XIII. Bishop of Concordia. The Archbishop of Chicago, Patrick Augustine Feehan, donated to him on November 30th of the same year, the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were the Bishop of Louisville, William George McCloskey, and the Bishop of Nashville, Joseph Rademacher.

On January 30, 1891, he was named Pope Leo XIII. Bishop of Omaha.
