Richland Township is one of 13 townships of Clinton County in the U.S. state of Ohio. According to the census in 2000 3758 inhabitants were registered here.

Geography

Richland Township is located in the extreme northeast of Clinton County in the mid- southwestern Ohio and bordered clockwise to the townships: Jasper Township, Fayette County, Concord Township ( Fayette County), Wayne Township, Green Township, Union Township and Wilson Township.

History

Richland Township was formed on April 6, 1810 and was one of the three original townships of the county. On August 13, 1813, the boundaries were redrawn and formed the Green Township thereof, and a part of the Union townships. On July 15, 1817 from another part of the Liberty Township, formed in March 1837 Wayne Township and in August 1850 Wislon Township from the former Richland Township.

Management

The township is administered by a Board of Trustees consisting of three elected members. Two persons are elected in the year after the presidential election and one each in the previous year. The term of office lasts four years, beginning on 1 January. There is also a Township Clerk ( responsible for finance and budget), which is also elected in the year before the presidential election to a four -year term. Whose term of office begins on April 1.
