The Riddoch Highway is a highway in the southeast of the Australian state of South Australia. It connects the Dukes Highway at Keith with the Princes Highway in Mount Gambier and the coastal resort of Port MacDonnell, both in the extreme southeast of the state.

Course

In the Keith Riddoch Highway branches off to the south by the Dukes Highway ( NA8 ) and then runs in a south- southeasterly direction to Naracoorte. From there he continued his way to the south- southeast until it has converged to about 10 km of the border to Victoria. Then it runs parallel to the border to the south, where he meets in Mount Gambier on the Princes Highway ( A1 / B1). By Keith up to Mount Gambier carries the Riddoch Highway, the term state highway A66.

The last 29 km to the south to the coast at Port MacDonnell and nearby Cape Northumberland ( the most southern point of South Australia ) lays down the street back as state road B66.

On his way pervades the Riddoch Highway pasture and farmland, as well as vegetables and wine regions, such as Padthaway, Coonawarra and Wrattonbully. Also forest areas where primarily Monterey pine were planted, are on the road.

Naming

The highway was after John Riddoch, the first land owners and wine in Coonawarra, named.

Road Conditions

The Royal Automobile Association ( RAA ) has awarded the Highway 5 out of 10 possible points on their safety scale.
