Rob Simonsen
Rob Simonsen (born 11 March 1978 in St. Louis, Missouri) is an American film and television composer.
Life and career
Rob Simonsen was born in March 1978 in St. Louis, Missouri, USA. Because his grandmother was a singing teacher, he came early to music. He played piano at a young age. His first musical experiences were influenced by film music, modern orchestral works, electronic music and jazz. He studied music at Southern Oregon University, the University of Oregon and Portland State University.
His debut as a composer, he was in 2003 with the Independent Film Westender. The film premiered at the Seattle International Film Festival, he met the famous composer Mychael Danna, who Simonsen offered to work with him. In subsequent years, followed by several collaborations with Danna, as in the film drama Eve and the Fire Horse (2005), the romantic comedy management and the love of film (500 ) Days of Summer (both 2008). He also worked with him at the movies Lonely Hearts Killers, Little Miss Sunshine, but it came to pass at the time ... (all three 2006), Breach - betrayal at the highest level, The Perfect Crime, Surf's Up (all three 2007), the Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus (2009) to win the Art - Moneyball (2011) and Life of Pi: Life of Pi (2012), in which each Simonsen was either involved as assistant to the composer or responsible for additional music.
As of 2010, he composed almost exclusively alone the music for the films All Beauty Must Die, Brooklyn Brothers Beat the Best, Looking for a Friend for the End of the World (along with Jonathan Sadoff ), There Is No Place Like Home - Let's get out from Ocean City, The Spectacular Now, Right at the back, and The English Teacher.
Also for TV series composed Simonsen, so 2008 for New Amsterdam, 2009 to 2010 for Dollhouse and since 2010 for Blue Bloods - Crime Scene New York. In 2012, he was responsible for the music of the Hulu Dramedyserie Battle Ground.
