Robben Ford

Robben Ford ( born December 16, 1951 in Woodlake, California) is an American blues and jazz or fusion guitarist and singer. He became internationally known both as a solo artist as well as numerous projects with Chick Corea, Miles Davis and BB King. He was previously a member in the bands Jing Chi, The Ford Blues Band and The Yellowjackets.

Biography

Before Robben Ford began with guitar, he learned the saxophone. At 13, he taught himself to play the guitar, the saxophone playing simultaneously. In his early plate Sunrise he even plays the saxophone itself in some pieces. At 18, he moved to San Francisco and founded the Charles Ford band ( named after his father, who was also a guitarist ). A short time later he was hired to play for nine months for Charlie Musselwhite. In 1971 the Charles Ford Blues Band was revived and made in early 1972 for the label Arhoolie recordings. Ford played with Jimmy Witherspoon (1972-1973), The LA Express with Tom Scott ( 1974), George Harrison and Joni Mitchell. In 1977 he founded The Yellowjackets, with whom he played until 1983. At the same time he started his solo career and worked as a session guitarist. In 1986 he toured with Miles Davis, 1985 and 1987 Sadao Watanabe with. In 1992, he remembered his roots: the blues. Ford formed a new band, The Blue Line. Since then he has published a series of blues-rock albums that are among the best recordings of his career. Robben Ford is considered as a sovereign exceptional guitarist with outstanding melodic sensibility and brilliant guitar sound.
