Robert Dallek

Robert Dallek ( born May 16, 1934 in New York ) is an American historian. His main research interests are foreign policy and the biographies of various presidents of the United States of the 20th century.

Life

Dallek studied history at the University of Illinois. In 1964 he completed his studies at Columbia University in New York City with a dissertation about the historian William E. Dodd ( 1869-1940 ). He then taught at the University of California at Los Angeles. In 1979 he was awarded the Bank Croft Prize from Columbia University for his work on Franklin D. Roosevelt and American foreign policy. From 1994 to 1995 he held a visiting professorship at the University of Oxford. Subsequently, he was a professor of history at Boston University. 2004/2005 he was a visiting professor at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. Since 2007 he has taught at Stanford University in California.
