Robert Hausmann

Robert Hausmann ( born August 13, 1852 in Rottleberode; † January 18, 1909 in Vienna ) was a German cellist and professor.

Life and work

Hausmann began in 1861 with his cello studies first at Theodor August Müller in Braunschweig, the cellist of the brothers -Muller Quartet and moved in 1867 to his nephew Wilhelm Müller in Berlin. Then completed Hausmann 1869 his studies as a student of Alfredo Piatti in London. After his return in 1872 he first got an engagement at the Dresden Quartet of Count Bolko Hochberg, before he received a teaching position to succeed his former teacher Wilhelm Müller at the Royal Academy of Music in Berlin in 1876 after the dissolution of this quartet. Here Haussmann in 1884 was promoted to the Royal Professor. Among his many students were among other Hugo Dechert, Otto Lüdemann, Philip Roth and Friedrich Ernst Koch. In addition, Haussmann was commissioned in 1889 by the famous Berlin concert agency Hermann Wolff under contract and in their concert ads, he was designated as a solo cellist, an award that in 1889 only seven cellists given was: In addition Hausmann were Lucy Campbell, Hugo Becker, Heinrich Grünfeld, Julius klengel, Alwin Schroeder and Adeline hemp Metzdorff there under contract.
