Robert Kempiński

Robert Kempiński ( born July 11, 1977 in Gdańsk ) is a leading Polish chess master.

Kempiński was in his youth gain a significant number of titles: the age of 14, he won the first time the Polish Youth Championship in his age category, a year later he became the Polish Youth Champion U20. In the following years, he took a very successful part of his home to a number of international youth competitions: three times he became Junior European Champion, once in the category U16 (1993 ), twice in the category U18 (1994 and 1995 in Żagań ). In 1995, he won the Junior World Championship U18 Guarapuava (Brazil ) in front of Emil Sutovsky. 1996 FIDE awarded him the grandmaster title.

At Kempinski numerous international tournament victories include successes in Zlín in 1994, České Budějovice 1995, Lippstadt 1995 Frýdek- Místek 1997 Biel Open 2000 and Bad Arolsen 2004. He takes since 1994 regularly at the Polish national championship in part, in 1997 he was sent to random battles with Michał Krasenkow and Jacek Gdański first title, 2001, he repeated his success ( also by tag battle against Krasenkow ). Since 1996, he represented his native country in the national team at Chess Olympiads and Team Championships. In 1999 he received the silver medal for his individual result on the fourth board at the European Championships. In 2006 he won together with Bartosz Socko the Rubinstein Memorial in Polanica -Zdrój.

Kempiński plays since the late 1990s in the Chess League. In the season 2005/ 06 he played on board three of the Hamburg SK. His Elo rating is 2612 (as of July 2010), so that it is ranked 9 of the Polish ranking. His previous highest Elo rating was 2627 in April 2005.
