Bad Arolsen is in the eastern foothills of the basement Forest approximately 8 km (air line ) southeast of Bad Wildungen. History

Zwesten was 817 for the first time in the Codex Eberhardi mentioned as Tuwesten documented. 1538 came to Zwestener Blood Wedding, in which it was violent clashes between nobles and peasants of the village.

Jewish Community

Jewish citizens were first mentioned in 1646 as Zwesten protected Jews. Middle of the 18th century lived 15 Jewish families with 61 people in the place. In the neighboring villages Oberurff and Niederurff lived at that time 21 and 43 Jewish people. Probably a synagogue was built in Arolsen to 1741, which was first mentioned in 1769.
