Geography
The territory of Neuental located east of Keller forest in the valleys of Schwalm, Gilsa and Merrebach between Borken in North - northeast and Schwalm city in the south. In the far north of the municipality is located near the village of Roman Mountain with the mountain Altenburg ( 433 m. Above sea level. NN. ) The highest mountain Neuentals.
Neighboring communities
Neuental bordered to the north by the municipality of Bad Arolsen, to the east by the city of Borken, in the south on the community and the city Frielendorf Schwalm city, and in the west on the community of Jesberg (all in the Schwalm -Eder -Kreis).
Structure
The municipality comprises the eight districts Bischhausen, Dorheim, Gilsa, Neuenhain, Roman mountain, Schlierbach, Walter Brück and Zimmersrode ( seat of the municipal administration).
History
The community Neuental was at 31 December 1971 as part of the municipal reform in Hesse by the merger of the previously independent municipalities Bischhausen ( first documented mention 1160 ), Dorheim ( 1205 ), Gilsa ( 1209), New Grove ( 1149 ), Schlierbach ( 1193 ), Walter Brück ( 1230) and Zimmersrode ( 1209). On January 1, 1974, Roman mountain ( first mentioned 1231 ) was added as the eighth district.

Mayor
The Mayor Kai Knöpper (FDP, currently resting membership ) was elected on September 25, 2005 with a vote share of 64.2 %. In the election on August 14, 2011 Knöpper was confirmed with 82.3 % of the vote in office; when two rival candidates, voter turnout was 63.2 %.
Culture and sights
A popular destination is the Arolsen on the border with the northern neighboring communities Borken and bathroom situated mountain Altenburg ( 433 m. Above sea level. NN. ) In Romans mountain with a lookout tower and the remains of the same Celtic ring wall Altenburg.
Sports
Major sports clubs in the community Neuental are the SG Gilsa / Jesberg / Walter Brück and TuS Zimmersrode. On New Hainer See the Celticman Triathlon takes place annually since 2008.
Economy and infrastructure
Traffic
Neuental is located on the Main- Weser Railway. The districts Zimmersrode and Schlierbach are breakpoints of RegioTram line Kassel- Treysa.
Located between the districts Bischhausen and Walter Brück motorway junction Neuental marks the current end of the A 49 Kassel- Borken- Neuental. East of the church ( about 4 km from the district Neuenhain ) runs the main road 254 Homberg - Fulda, west ( about 3 km from the district Gilsa ) the main road 3 Kassel- Marburg.
