Roderick Thorp

Roderick Thorp ( Roderick Mayne Thorp Junior, born September 1, 1936 in New York; † 28 April 1999 in Oxnard ) was an American writer. He wrote detective novels, including the novel templates for the films The detective and Die Hard.

Life

He studied at the City College of New York, which awarded him for his short stories Awards, and where in 1957 he graduated. He first worked as a car salesman at a men's outfitter, for insurance, and founded a catering company. As a young man he worked as an agent for the detective of his father.

After his moderately successful debut Into the Forest 1961 Tenacious was a bestseller in 1966. When Obstinate it comes to the mellow policemen Joe Leland.
