Rodion Cămătaru

Rodion Doru Gorun Cămătaru ( born June 22, 1958 in Strehaia, Circle Mehedinţi ) is a former Romanian football player. He played a total of 422 games in Divizia A, of the First Division and the Division of Honour. In 1987, he won the Golden Boot. As a national player Cămătaru took part in the European Football Championship in 1984 and the Football World Cup 1990.

Playing career

Cămătaru began at the age of 12 years in his hometown Strehaia playing football at the local club Progresul Strehaia. At age 16, he moved to the nearest first division club, Universitatea Craiova, which was one in the 1970s, to the best Romanian clubs. On November 10, 1974, he was there at the match against CFR Cluj his debut in the highest Romanian league, the Divizia A. In Universitatea Craiova Cămătaru came in the early years of his career, although regularly used, however, he succeeded - although striker - hardly gates.

In 47 European games, he scored 7 goals and with 198 goals in 378 league games, he is after Dudu Georgescu 's second- leading scorer of all time Divizia A.

National

Cămătaru denied a total of 75 games for the Romanian national football team, scoring 22 goals. He made his debut on December 13, 1978 against Greece. Cămătaru has successfully completed a degree in economics. After his playing career was initially Cămătaru 1994-1996 Universitatea Craiova president, before he was a player consultant from 1996 to 2003. From 2003 to 2004 he was Director of Sport of Universitatea Craiova. From 2004 to 2007 was a member of the Cămătaru Partidul Democrat on the city council of Craiova.
