Rodrigo Barbosa Rodrigues Costa
Rodrigo Costa ( born July 30, 1975 in Laranjal Paulista, Brazil, Rodrigo Barbosa Rodrigues Costa full name ) is a former Brazilian footballer.
Career
Rodrigo Costa was an aerially strong central defender. In his youth, he played at EC XV Novembro de Piracicaba. After that he was in Portugal for the CS Marítimo and long time in Brazil for the clubs SE Palmeiras and Guarani FC, EC Juventude, Gremio and Santos FC active. Overall, he graduated in Series A 160 matches and scored 4 goals.
In 2002 he moved to TSV 1860 Munich in the 1st Bundesliga, where he became a regular player. In the second season after the change he missed just four games and also after relegation to the 2nd Bundesliga, he stood only three games of the 2004/2005 season due to locks not on the court. In the relegation season 2003/2004 of the rare scorer met, curiously, twice against Hertha Berlin goal. In the first leg, however, it was its own network. The gaffe, he was able to make up for the return leg with a 1-0 lead with back to relegation but it was not enough: the game ended as well as in the first round 1:1. Overall, he conceded during his time at 1860 34 yellow cards, so average in almost every third game one, and two second yellow and a red card. His contract ran until 2008, but was terminated without notice by the club on 26 April 2006. Costa explained previously, to want to deny no longer a game under coach Walter Schachner. Later, they agreed on a resolution of the current contract until 2008 for a severance payment.
The player moved to Standard Liege in the Belgian First Division, where he signed a two-year contract. But he could not prevail here and the contract was terminated by mutual agreement after one month. After an interlude in the Paraguayan football club Cerro Porteño, where he was also employed in the Copa Libertadores, Costa played for a month at the Greek first division side Veria FC and was then for CA Metropolitano active before the contract was dissolved. Costa returned to his family returned to Rio de Janeiro.
