Roel Brouwers (2010)

Roel Brouwers ( born November 28, 1981 in Heerlen ) is a Dutch football player.

Career

Association

He started four years at his hometown club RKVV Weltania Heerlen and the age of eleven he moved to the youth department of the Roda JC Kerkrade. Brouwers joined in the summer of 2005, initially on loan from the Dutch first division club Roda JC Kerkrade to the German second division side SC Paderborn. A year later he was obliged by the East Westphalia. The transfer fee was € 200,000. Brouwer was at first team regular. In the season 2006/ 07 he played a total of 33 second-division games and therefore missed only one game in the jersey of SC Paderborn.

For the 2007/08 season Brouwers moved to Borussia Mönchengladbach. He counted on the rise in 2007/ 08 to the service providers. In December 2007, he was elected by the fans to the best defensive player of the season so far. By season's end he managed to Mönchengladbach immediate promotion back to the 1st Bundesliga. His contract with Borussia runs until 30 June 2014.

Brouwers was once nominated for the Dutch U21, but did not play.

Because of its striking appearance and its experienced playing Roel Brouwers became one of the most popular players of his time with the fans of Borussia Mönchengladbach. Ball contacts Brouwers were always drawn at home games by the fans of Borussia Moenchengladbach with a long, murmuring " Rooooeeel " accompanied. Moreover, it was realized by independent fan projects that Brouwers ' likeness can be found on t- shorts, caps, coffee mugs and other memorabilia.
