Roland Dahinden

Roland Dahinden (* 1962 in train, Switzerland ) is a Swiss trombonist and composer.

Life and work

Roland Dahinden studied trombone and composition at the Musikhochschule Graz ( Erich Kleinschuster and Georg Friedrich Haas) at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole in Florence ( Vinko Globokar ) and at Wesleyan University, Connecticut, ( with Anthony Braxton, Alvin Lucier ), where he 1994 graduated with a master. Between 1998 and 2002, he graduated from Birmingham University in England Vic Hoyland doctoral studies. Between 1992-95 he was an assistant of Anthony Braxton and Alvin Lucier.

He is married to the pianist Hildegard Kleeb, father of two children, Anna and Luisa and he teaches at the music school of the city train in Switzerland.

As a trombonist, he focuses on contemporary music and improvisation / jazz, concert tours have taken him throughout Europe to America and Asia.

Since 1987 he plays in a duo with Hildegard Kleeb and together since 1992 in a trio with the violinist Dimitrios Polisoidis. Composer

As a composer, his special interest in interdisciplinary collaboration with visual artists such as Guido Baselgia, Andreas Brandt, Stéphane Brunner, Daniel Buren, Rudolf de Crignis, Philippe Deléglise, Inge Dick, Rainer Grodnick, Sol LeWitt, Lisa Schiess, the architects Morger & Degelo and the poet Eugen Gomringer.

Awards
