Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Bujumbura

The Archdiocese of Bujumbura (Latin: Archidioecesis Buiumburaensis ) is a location in Burundi Roman Catholic archdiocese based in Bujumbura.

History

The Archdiocese of Bujumbura was posted on June 11, 1959 by Pope John XXIII. built with the Apostolic Constitution Cum sacrum from the Apostolic Vicariate of territory Kitega and Ngozi as Apostolic Vicariate Usumbura.

The Apostolic Vicariate of Usumbura was posted on November 10, 1959 by John XXIII. charged with the Apostolic Constitution Cum parvulum to the diocese and the Archdiocese of Gitega a suffragan. On October 9, 1964, the diocese was renamed the Diocese of Bujumbura Usumbura. The Diocese of Bujumbura announced on June 7, 1980 parts of its territory to the foundation of the diocese Bubanza. On 25 November 2006, the Diocese of Bujumbura was by Pope Benedict XVI. charged with the Apostolic Constitution Cum ad aptius to an archbishopric.
