Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Luanda

The Archdiocese of Luanda (Latin: Archidioecesis Luandensis ) is a location in Angola Roman Catholic archdiocese based in Luanda. It includes the provinces of Luanda and Bengo.

History

As early as May 20, 1596 in Angola was a bishopric called Angola and Congo, which included the names for even more areas outside of Angola, was established from the diocese of São Tomé out. As of September 4, 1940 was the bishopric of Luanda and was elevated to archdiocese. From 1957 to 1990 new bishoprics were established in Angola, which then formed gradually the ecclesiastical province of Luanda.
