Roman Catholic Diocese of Barra

The Diocese of Barra (Latin: Dioecesis Barrensis ) is a located in Brazil Roman Catholic diocese based in Barra in the state of Bahia.

History

Pope Pius X founded it on 20 October 1913, the Apostolic Constitution Catholicae Ecclesiae out of territory of the Archdiocese of São Salvador da Bahia, where it was assumed as a suffragan.

Parts of its territory it lost in favor of the establishment of the following dioceses:

On 16 January 2002 it became part of the ecclesiastical province of the Archdiocese of Feira de Santana.

Territory

The Diocese of Crato includes the municipalities of Barra de Brotas Macaúbas, Buritirama, Gentio do Ouro, Ibotirama, Ipupiara, Itaguaçu da Bahia, Morpará, Muquém de São Francisco, Oliveira dos Brejinhos and Xique - Xique the State of Bahia.
