Roman Catholic Diocese of Basankusu
The diocese Basankusu (Latin: Dioecesis Basankusuensis ) is a location in the Democratic Republic of the Congo Roman Catholic diocese based in Basankusu.
History
The diocese Basankusu was on July 28, 1926 by Pope Pius XI. built with the Apostolic Constitution Cum etiam from annexations of the Apostolic Vicariate of Nouvelle- Anvers as Apostolic Prefecture Basankusu. The Apostolic Prefecture Basankusu was born on January 8, 1948 by Pope Pius XII. charged with the Apostolic Constitution Apostolic Vicariate Ad potioris. The Apostolic Vicariate of Basankusu announced on 14 June 1951 from parts of its territory establishing the Apostolic Prefecture Isangi.
On November 10, 1959, the Apostolic Vicariate Basankusu was by Pope John XXIII. charged with the Apostolic Constitution Cum parvulum to the diocese and the Archdiocese of Mbandaka - Bikoro a suffragan.
