Roman Catholic Diocese of Kalemie–Kirungu

The diocese Kalemie - Kirungu (Latin: Dioecesis Kalemiensis - Kirunguensis ) is a location in the Democratic Republic of the Congo Roman Catholic diocese based in Kalemie.

History

The diocese Kalemie - Kirungu was on January 11, 1887 by Pope Leo XIII. from the Apostolic Vicariate of territory Tanganyika established as Apostolic Vicariate of Upper Congo. On 11 July 1939, the Apostolic Vicariate of Upper Congo was renamed Vicariate Apostolic Baudouinville. The Apostolic Vicariate of Baudouinville announced on January 10, 1952 from parts of its territory to the founding of the Apostolic Vicariate of Kasongo.

On November 10, 1959, the Apostolic Vicariate Baudouinville was by Pope John XXIII. charged with the Apostolic Constitution Cum parvulum to the diocese and the Archdiocese of Lubumbashi is a suffragan. The diocese Baudouinville announced on April 24, 1971 from parts of its territory to the founding of the Diocese of Manono. On August 22, 1972, the diocese was renamed the Diocese Baudouinville Kalemie - Kirungu.
