Roman Catholic Diocese of Kingstown

The Diocese of Kingstown (Latin: Dioecesis Regalitana ) is a Roman Catholic diocese based in Kingstown on St. Vincent. It includes the islands of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

History

Pope John Paul II erected on 23 October 1989, the Diocese of Kingstown by cleavage of the diocese of Bridgetown - Kingstown in the diocese of Bridgetown and Kingstown diocese and imputed it to the Archdiocese of Castries, suffragan.

The diocese operates five preschools, three elementary schools and two secondary schools.

The founding bishop was Robert Rivas OP until 2007, the Archbishop of Castries ever since. Since 19 July 2007 to 2011, the Cathedra was unoccupied. Archbishop Rivas was Apostolic Administrator until the appointment of the new bishop. He appointed Padre Pio Atonioals MF apostolic delegate to oversee the daily operations of the diocese.
