Roman Catholic Diocese of Lins

The Diocese of Lins (Latin: Dioecesis Linensis ) is a located in Brazil Roman Catholic diocese based in Lins in the state of São Paulo.

History

The Diocese of Lins was born on June 21, 1926 by Pope Pius XI. built with the Apostolic Constitution Ea est in praesenti of cessions of territory of the Diocese of Botucatu as Cafelândia diocese and the Archdiocese of São Paulo is a suffragan.

On May 27, 1950, the diocese was renamed the Diocese Cafelândia Lins. The Diocese of Lins, on 16 February 1952 from parts of its territory to the founding of the Diocese of Marília. On April 19, 1958, the Diocese of Lins was the Archdiocese of Botucatu is a suffragan. The Diocese of Lins announced on February 15, 1964 from parts of its territory to the founding of the Diocese of Bauru. A further transfer of territory took place on 23 March 1994 foundation of the diocese Araçatuba.
