Roman Catholic Diocese of Lokoja
The Diocese of Lokoja (Latin: Dioecesis Lokoianus ) is a location in Nigeria Roman Catholic diocese based in Lokoja.
History
The Diocese of Lokoja was born on February 21, 1955 by Pope Pius XII. cessions of territory from the dioceses of Benin City and Kaduna as well as the Apostolic Prefecture Oturkpo built as Apostolic Prefecture of Kabba. On July 6, 1964, the Apostolic Prefecture of Kabba was by Pope Paul VI. raised to the bishopric. The Diocese of Kabba was renamed on May 5, 1965 in Diocese of Lokoja. On September 26, 1968, the Diocese of Lokoja were from parts of its territory establishing the Apostolic Prefecture of Idah.
The Diocese of Lokoja is the Archdiocese of Abuja is a suffragan.
