Roman Catholic Diocese of Mangalore

The Diocese of Mangalore (Latin: Dioecesis Mangalorensis ) is a located in India Roman Catholic diocese based in Mangalore.

History

The diocese of Mangalore was on 12 May in 1845 by Pope Pius IX. Malabar separated as " Apostolic Pro- Vicariate of Mangalore " from the Apostolic Vicariate and since then by Bishop Bernardine of St Agnes OCD governed. When he died in Rome on March 13, 1853, we raised Mangalore as early as 2 days later, on March 15th of the year, at the regular Apostolic Vicariate and determined the Italians Michael Anthony Anfossi for the first Vicar Apostolic.

On September 1, 1886, the unoccupied since 1873 Vicariate Apostolic of Mangalore was converted into a diocese, the Archdiocese of Bangalore is a suffragan and appointed a diocesan bishop. On 12 June 1923, the Diocese of Mangalore were parts of its territory from the foundation of the diocese Calicut.

The Diocese of Mangalore comprises the districts of Dakshina Kannada in the Indian state of Karnataka and Kasaragod in Kerala.
