Roman Catholic Diocese of Mbeya

The Diocese of Mbeya (Latin: Dioecesis Mbeyaënsis ) is a location in Tanzania Roman Catholic diocese based in Mbeya.

History

The Diocese of Mbeya was founded on July 18, 1932 by Pope Pius XI. with the Apostolic Constitution Cum munus apostolicum of annexations of the Apostolic Vicariate of Tanganyika as a mission sui juris Tukuyu built. The mission sui juris Tukuyu was born on March 29, 1938 by Pius XI. charged with the Apostolic Constitution Si qua the Apostolic Prefecture. The Apostolic Prefecture Tukuyu was posted on July 14, 1949 by Pope Pius XII. charged with the Apostolic Constitution Merito ad potiorem Apostolic Vicariate and renamed Vicariate Apostolic Mbeya.

On March 25, 1953, the Apostolic Vicariate of Mbeya was Pius XII. charged with the Apostolic Constitution Quemadmodum ad Nos to the diocese and the Archdiocese of Tabora is a suffragan. The Diocese of Mbeya announced on March 25, 1972 from parts of its territory to the founding of the Diocese of Singida. On November 18, 1987, the Diocese of Mbeya was the Archdiocese of Songea is a suffragan.
