Roman Catholic Diocese of Sunyani

The Diocese of Sunyani (Latin: Dioecesis Sunyaniensis ) is a location in Ghana Roman Catholic diocese based in Sunyani. It includes the districts of the Brong- Ahafo Region: Sunyani, Berekum, Dormaa, Tain, Jaman South, Jaman North and Wenchi.

History

Pope Paul VI. founded it with the Apostolic Constitution tellus Africa on July 6, 1992, cessions of territory of the Diocese of Kumasi and it became the Archdiocese of Cape Coast was assumed as suffragan. On 17 January 2002 it became the Archdiocese of Kumasi is a suffragan.

Parts of its territory it lost in favor of the establishment of the following dioceses:

  • March 3, 1995 to the bishopric of Konongo - Mampong;
  • October 24, 1997 to the diocese Goaso;
  • December 28, 2007 to the Diocese of Techiman.
