Roman Catholic Diocese of Ubon Ratchathani

The Diocese of Ubon Ratchathani (Latin: Dioecesis Ubonratchathaniensis, Thai: สังฆมณฑล อุบลราชธานี ) is a Roman Catholic diocese in Thailand.

Organization

The 53,917 km ² large diocese covers the provinces of Amnat Charoen, Maha Sarakham, Roi Et, Sisaket, Surin, Ubon Ratchathani and Yasothon. It is the Archdiocese of Thare and Nonseng ( Archidioecesis Tharensis et Nonsengensis, อัคร สังฆมณฑล ท่า แร่ - หนอง แสง ) is a suffragan.

History

Dio diocese goes back to the Apostolic Vicariate of Ubon, which was carved out of the Archdiocese of Thare and Nongseng on 7 May 1953. In 1965, the western part of the Vicariate Apostolic Vicariate of Nakhon Ratchasima. On 18 December 1965, the Vicariate was elevated to the bishopric.

The Church of the virginal conception ( Thai: อาสน วิหาร แม่ พระ นิรมล ) is located in the town of Ubon Ratchathani.
