Roman Catholicism in Kazakhstan

The Roman Catholic Church in Kazakhstan is a mission church that was built in the last few decades.

Christianity in Kazakhstan can be traced back to the 2nd century. The Catholic Church is represented with both the Roman and even Byzantine Rite.

Was founded in 1991 by Pope John Paul II, the Apostolic Administration of Kazakhstan. From Governorship 1997, the territorial units were " mission sui juris " in Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, and founded the Administrations in Atyrau, Astana and Almaty, released in 1999. In 1999 it was renamed the Governorship Kazakhstan to the diocese of Karaganda. 2003 Astana Governorship was elevated to an archdiocese.
