Roman Kroitor

Roman Kroitor ( born December 12, 1926 in Yorkton, † 17 September 2012 in Québec) was a Canadian film producer, film director and screenwriter.

Life

Kroitor studied philosophy and psychology at the University of Manitoba and then worked for the National Film Board of Canada, first as a production assistant and then as an editor. In 1949 he directed his first film. Kroitor is co-inventor of IMAX. As a film director, screenwriter, documentary filmmaker and film producer, he worked in Canada. In 1980 he was nominated along with Stefan Wodoslawsky with the short film Bravery in the Field for an Oscar in the category Best Short Film.
