Romina Oprandi
Romina Oprandi ( born March 29, 1986 in Jegenstorf, Switzerland ) is a Swiss tennis player. The dual citizen - she has an Italian passport - lives in Bern.
Career
Early her talent was recognized for the sport of tennis. Her father had built an indoor tennis court for them in Bern, still stands today. But the daughter had major problems with her right arm, so that they had to interrupt their careers for medical reasons. After her recovery, she then wanted to achieve success on the WTA Tour.
In May 2006 Oprandi started with a wildcard at the WTA tournament ( Tier I) in Rome, where she struggled to the quarter- finals, but there Svetlana Kuznetsova defeated 4:6, 7:5 and 6:75. Thanks to this success, it reached the Top 100 in the WTA world rankings. At Wimbledon, she took in 2006 for the first time at a Grand Slam tournament. After she survived the qualification was the first defendant in the main field in turn Svetlana Kuznetsova against which they also drew the short straw this time ( 3:6, 2:6 ).
After her retirement in 2013 at Wimbledon (task in the third set ) Oprandi played no official tournament more until February 2014, when she took in Midland ( USA) to the local ITF tournament.
