Ron Fawcett

Ron Fawcett ( born May 6, 1955) is an English rock climbers. He is considered one of the fathers of modern sports climbing and was first to climb many difficult climbing routes, especially in his home country.

He was one of the world's best climbers in the 1970s and 1980s. He became known in Germany through its participation in the Konsteiner climbing meeting in 1981. Fawcett's most famous first ascent is probably Master 's Edge (E7 6b) at Millstone Edge in the Peak District, a moderately secure route to a distinctive edge. Fawcett overcame the longest climb in the UK, an approximately 5000 meters long traverse on Stanage Edge in the Peak District.

He won in 2010 along with Ed Douglas the Boardman Tasker Prize - with his book, Ron Fawcett, rock Athlete.
