Ron Jaworski

Ronald Vincent Jaworski ( born March 23, 1951 in Lackawanna, Erie County ( New York)), is a former American professional American football player. He played quarterback in the National Football League ( NFL).

Youth / College

Jaworski, Nickname: Jaws, already played on the high school baseball, basketball and American football before he began studying at Youngstown State University in Youngstown ( Ohio) and was used there as quarterback of the Youngstown State Penguins.

Professional time

In the 1973 NFL Draft Jaworski was pulled by the Los Angeles Rams in the second round to 37th place. For the Rams to Jaworski could not prevail and did not progress beyond the role of a substitute player. His coach Chuck Knox, so traded it before the 1977 season against the tight end Charle Young from the Philadelphia Eagles and helped the Eagles and their coach Dick Vermeil thus unintentionally to develop into a top team. Already in his first year Jaworski took over the role of starting quarterback Roman Gabriel and should not leave this position in the coming years. From 1978 to 1981, the Eagles regularly achieved the Play Offs. 1980 they increased their eternal rival, the Dallas Cowboys beat under coach Tom Landry, in the NFC Championship Game with 20:7 and thus attracted into the Super Bowl, where they trained in Super Bowl XV against the Tom Flores and Jim Plunkett led by Oakland however Raiders documents with 27:10. This year, Jaworski was able to achieve a gain of space of 3529 yards during the regular season. 27 of his passes were caught for touchdowns.

In the next few years Jaworski could not lead his team in a playoff, though his personal numbers were quite satisfactory. In 1985 he had his regular position at Randall Cunningham leave and a year later he was released to the Miami Dolphins. In 1987, he was not used and was 1988 behind Dan Marino only little playing time. After a year at the Kansas City Chiefs, he finished his career. In 15 years as a pro he scored in 188 games 195 touchdowns passes and running game with 164 interceptions.

Honors

Jaworski once played in the Pro Bowl, the final game of the best players of the season. In 1980 he was elected MVP of the season.

After the career

Jaworski works as a television presenter and football analyst. He is president of the Philadelphia Soul of a team in the Arena Football League, also he is co-owner of a hotel and the owner of a golf course. Jaworski is married and has three children.
