Rosey, Haute-Saône

Rosey is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Rosey is located at an altitude of 246 m above sea level, about 11 km southwest of Vesoul (air line). The village is located in the central part of the department, on the plateau of the upper Saônebeckens, at the western foot of the heights, which rise between the river valleys of the Saône and Ognon.

The area of ​​14.64 km ² municipal area includes a portion in the region of the upper Saônebeckens. The main part of the area is occupied by a platform, which is an average 250 m. It is drained by the stream Ruisseau de Vy- le- Ferroux whose valley is slightly incised into the plateau, northwest to the Saône. The plateau is composed of Tertiary sediments. Agricultural land use predominates, but there are larger areas of forest ( Bois Lécerty in the west and Grand Bois de Rosey in the southwest ).

In the southeast, passes through a ground level to the wooded ridge of the Côte d' Andelarre that belongs to the hilly area between the Saône and Ognon. It consists of carbonate sediments of the middle Jurassic period. The highest elevations of Rosey form with 371 m the crests of the Bois du Mont and the Bois du Rossignol. In addition to the trickle of the Ruisseau de Vy- le- Ferroux there are no surface watercourses, because the rainwater seeps into the karst underground.

Neighboring communities of Rosey are Raze and Baignes in the north, Mailley -et- Chazelot in the east, Grandvelle -et -le- Perrenot in the south and Neuvelle -lès- la Charité in the West.

History

Is first mentioned Rosey in the year 1092. During the Middle Ages the village belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. 1227 a priory was founded here, which originally belonged to the Cluniacs. Together with the Franche -Comté Rosey came with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. The Prioratsgüter handed the French king in 1772 the hospital Saint -Jacques, Besancon. Today Rosey is a member of the comprehensive 22 villages municipal association Communauté de communes des Combes.

Attractions

The church of Saint -Barthélemy was ordained in 1773 and has a rich interior from the 18th and 19th centuries. Outside the church is a Calvary, which is dated to 1620. From the 16th century comes the former seat of power. Also from this period remains of the Dominican convent are obtained. The village is characterized by various houses from the 16th to the 18th century, showing the traditional style of the Haute -Saône. Known far beyond the region is the Musée Morice Lipsi, a sculpture park and an art collection with works from the 20th century of international importance.

Population

With 263 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Rosey is one of the small towns in the Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1881 503 persons were still counted ), only relatively small fluctuations were recorded since the early 1960s.

Economy and infrastructure

Rosey was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. Today, there are some establishments of local small businesses, including a dairy and a quarry company. In recent decades the village has been transformed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who do their work in the agglomeration Vesoul.

The village is situated away from the larger passage axes on a secondary road, leading from Traves after Mailley -et- Chazelot. Another road connection with Baignes.
