Rostislav Dimitrov

Rostislav Dimitrov ( Bulgarian Ростислав Димитров, English transcription Rostislav Dimitrov, . Born December 26, 1974 in Russian ) is a retired Bulgarian triple jumper.

After he was eliminated at the World Athletics Championships 1997 in Athens in qualifying, he won the following year at the European Championships in Budapest his first international medal. In the triple jump, he finished with 17.26 m third place behind Jonathan Edwards ( 17.99 m) and defending champion Denis Kapustin (17.45 m).

The greatest success of his career, he celebrated by winning the silver medal at the IAAF 1999 World Championships in Seville. With a personal best of 17.49 meters he placed behind Charles Friedek ( 17.59 m ) and before Jonathan Edwards ( 17.48 m). Earlier in the season Dimitrov had finished second at the World Indoor Championships already in Maebashi. However, he was disqualified because of illegal ephedrine.

In 2000 he won at the European Indoor Championships in Ghent the silver medal and had to deal again only beaten by Charles Friedek. At the Olympic Games in Sydney Dimitrov finished ninth and was the end of the season at the IAAF Grand Prix Final in Doha runner-up. At the World Athletics Championships in Edmonton in 2001, he finished eighth at the European Championships in Munich in 2002 to ninth place.
