Roy Schneider

Roy Lester Schneider ( born May 13, 1939 in Saint Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands) is an American politician. Between 1995 and 1999 he was governor of the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Career

Roy Schneider studied until 1965 at Howard University in Washington DC among other things, the tray medicine. Between 1966 and 1968 he was a captain in the U.S. Army. He was employed in the medical service as a physician and medical advisor during the Vietnam War. For this he was awarded the Bronze Star and a South Vietnamese award. After his military service Schneider practiced in his homeland as a doctor. Politically, he joined the Republican Party. Between 1977 and 1987 he was Minister of Health of the Virgin Islands.

In the local elections of 1994, Roy Schneider was elected as the new governor of the outdoor area. On January 5, 1995 he joined the successor of Alexander A. Farrelly. This office he was able to exert up to the 4th January 1999. In 1998 he was not re-elected. Since then, he is no longer politically have appeared.
