Royal Courts of Justice

The Royal Courts of Justice ( RCJ ) ( Royal Courts of Justice ), commonly called Law Courts ( Law Courts ), is a building in London which houses the Court of Appeal ( Court of Appeal) and the High Court of Justice ( Civil Court ) of England and Wales.

The gray stone building was built during the 1870s in the Gothic Revival style. The architect was George Edmund Street. The Royal Courts are located at the beach, on the border between the City of London and the City of Westminster. The courtrooms are open to the public, with certain court cases, restrictions may be adopted. The building is surrounded by the four Inns of Court.

The Court of Appeal and the High Court were together until 2009, the Supreme Court, that the Supreme Court of England and Wales, differed in their function but significantly from the Supreme Court of the United States. Although they treated far more court cases, but had on the constitutional level a much smaller influence.

The nearest London Underground stations are Temple and Chancery Lane.
