The Royal Princess is a cruise ship in the Princess Cruises and the lead ship of the Royal class.

History

The ship was ordered together with the sister ship Regal Princess on February 17, 2010. Construction began on 15 March 2011 with the cutting of the first steel plates. The ship was built at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone. The keel-laying ceremony was on 20 October 2011. The launch took place on 16 August 2012. The ship was taken over by the owner on 4 June 2013. On 13 June 2013, the ship was christened. The maiden voyage began on 16 June 2013.
