Rudolf I, Margrave of Baden-Baden

Margrave Rudolf I of Baden (* 1230, † November 19, 1288 ) was from 1243 to 1288 reigning Margrave of Baden. Due to its territorial acquisitions, he is regarded in the literature as the actual founder of the Margraviate of Baden.

Life

He was the son of Margrave Hermann V. von Baden and the Countess Palatine of the Rhine Irmengard († 1260 ), daughter of Henry I, Count Palatine of the Rhine.

He first took over together with his brother Hermann VI. his paternal inheritance until this after his marrying moved to the Austrian dukes to Austria in 1247 and Rudolf I left the autocracy of the Margraviate of Baden.
