Rudolf Koelman

Rudolf Koelman ( born October 2, 1959 in Amsterdam) is a Dutch violinist and professor at the Zurich University of the Arts. He currently resides in Winterthur.

Life

Koelman began in 1972 in Amsterdam, a violin studies with Jan boron and Herman Krebber. After its completion in 1978 Koelman one of the last students Jascha Heifetzs at the University of Southern California and studied until 1981, in Los Angeles.

In 1984, Rudolf Koelman a professorship at the Vorarlberg State Conservatory in Austria, which he held until 1989. In addition, he was appointed in 1987 as Professor at the Conservatory and Musikhochschule Winterthur between 1996 and 1999 and was the first concertmaster of Amsterdam's Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. From 2000 to 2005 he was employed at the Robert- Schumann-Hochschule in Dusseldorf. In 2005, Koelman a professor at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) as well as the management of the ZHdK strings, one consisting of students ZHdK string orchestra. In addition Koelman is active as a soloist, guest professor and judge.

Rudolf Koelman owns and plays a violin by Giovanni Francesco Pressenda in 1829 (Turin / Italy) and Jaap Bolink violin from the year 1984 ( Hilversum / The Netherlands).

Media

When recordings were made, among others, the three sonatas by Johannes Brahms, the two sonatas of Sergei Prokofiev, as well as Le Quattro Stagioni by Vivaldi. The most famous is the live recording of the 24 Caprices by Niccolò Paganini in the year 1996.
