Rudy Hartono
Rudy Hartono Kurniawan ( born August 18, 1949 in Surabaya, formerly Nio Hap Liang and Liang Hailiang ) is a former Indonesian badminton player. Utami Dewi is his sister. Rudy Hartonos and Christian Hadinatas wives, Yoke Anwar Anwar and Jane are sisters.
Career
Rudy Hartono was one of the most important players in this sport in the 1970s and 1980s. Hartono is single record title holder of the All England, the then unofficial world championships. He won eight of ten finals, losing only in 1975 against Svend Pri and 1978 against Liem Swieten King.
1967, 1970, 1973, 1976 and 1979, he won with the Indonesian team at the Thomas Cup, 1982, he was with the team in second place. At the Olympics in 1972, where badminton was played as a demonstration sport, he won the final against eternal rival Svend Pri. The highlight of his career, he won the world title in the men's singles in 1980.
