Rue Protzer

Rue Protzer (* 1966 in Stuttgart as Rüdiger Protzer ) is a German jazz guitarist and composer; He leads the group Rue de Paris.

Life and work

Protzer grew up in Nuremberg, where he won with 15 his first composition competition. After graduation, he worked as a studio musician. From 1987 to 1994 he studied at the Conservatory of Nuremberg (now College of Music Nuremberg ) classical guitar, composition and conducting. After studying with Pat Metheny, Joe Beck, Gene Bertoncini and Peter O'Mara he turned to all the jazz.

Protzer debut album Rue de Paris was published in 2005 under the title Quiet Motion with Sony Classical and met with the critics on a very positive response. Further members of the group were Ack van Rooyen, Adam Nussbaum, Thomas Rückert and John Goldsby. The second Rue de Paris album titled New York Slow (including with Randy Brecker and Lee Konitz ) was released in 2007 again with Sony Classical. In 2009, finally appeared with Trois a third album the group with the regular cast Protzer, walnut, Rueckert and bassist Marc Johnson. In addition, work on some tracks with the singer Cecile Verny and trumpeter Julian Wasserfuhr. The magazine chose the album Stereoplay Trois number three of the ten best jazz CDs of the year.

In 2010, he led his composition Xanivia on with the Metropole Orkest. 2012, the world premiere of The Pirt trip for orchestra and guitar in Nuremberg Tafelhalle took place.

For the 2013 released album One Note Story Protzer has used "a kind of all-star band of young German jazz ".
