Adam Nussbaum

Adam Nussbaum ( born November 29, 1955 in New York City ) is an American jazz drummer.

Nussbaum grew up in Norwalk / Connecticut and received from the age of five years of piano lessons. At twelve, he moved on to drums, in addition, he played as a teenager, also bass and saxophone.

In 1975 he went to New York to study at the Davis Center for Performing Arts. Here he worked with Albert Dailey, Monty Waters, Joe Lee Wilson and Sheila Jordan and entered 1977 with Sonny Rollins. In 1978 he became a member of Dave Liebman's quintet and undertook his first European tour with John Scofield.

In the early 1980s he worked in a trio with Scofield and Steve Swallow. In 1983 he became a member of the Monday Night Orchestra by Gil Evans and has performed with Stan Getz. He was then a member of the Eliane Elias / Randy Brecker Quartet and toured in 1987 with the quintet of Michael Brecker, the 1988 Grammy -winning album Do not Try This At Home was born.

In 1992, he joined the Big Band by Carla Bley and formed with John Abercrombie and Dan Wall, a trio. In addition, Nussbaum played in a trio with George Gruntz and Mike Richmond ( Serious Fun, Enja 1990), the George Gruntz Concert Jazz Band, the James Moody Quartet, the Steve Swallow Trio, the Kenny Wheeler Quartet and the Jerry Bergonzi Quartet.

Nussbaum teaches at New York University, the New School University and the State University of New York and are worldwide courses and master classes.
