Ruhi Sarıalp

Ruhi Sarıalp (* December 15 1924 in Manisa, † March 5, 2001 in Izmir) was a Turkish track and field athlete, who specializes in the triple jump.

His greatest success came Sarıalp at the 1948 Olympic Games in London, where he won the bronze medal behind the Swede Arne Åhman and the Australian George Avery. It was the first Olympic medal for a Turkish athletes ever. It was not until 56 years later Turkey presented with the hammer thrower Esref Apak again a medalist in athletics.

The European Athletics Championships 1950 in Brussels Sarıalp was also third parties. Again, he was the first Turkish medal winners and for a long time the only one. 2002, the middle distance runner Sureyya Ayhan won the second European Cup medal for Turkey.

After his playing career Sarıalp lectured at the İstanbul Teknik Üniversitesi and served on the board of the Athletics Department of Fenerbahce.
