Ruslan Fedotenko

Ruslan Fedotenko Wiktorowytsch (Ukrainian Руслан Вікторович Федотенко, Russian Руслан Викторович Федотенко / Ruslan Fedotenko Viktorovich, born January 18, 1979 in Kiev, Ukrainian SSR ) is a Ukrainian ice hockey player who since July 2013 when HK Donbass Donetsk in the Kontinental Hockey League contract stands.

Career

Fedotenko left early on his hometown club HK Sokol Kiev for Finland, where he played for the juniors of TPS Turku. Later he was active for Kiekko Turku in the Finnish second league. At age 18, he moved in 1997 to North America.

After working in various youth teams, he signed in August 1999, a professional contract with the Philadelphia Flyers. This put him in the first year in the East Coast Hockey League with the Trenton Titans, but especially in the American Hockey League with the Philadelphia Phantoms a. Good performances there helped him to fight for a place in the squad of the Flyers for the 2000 /01 season. After an impressive rookie season and the following season was a success. A highlight of his career was his participation in the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City for his country.

In summer 2002, the Flyers gave him from the Tampa Bay Lightning. Here he was in the 2003/04 season, the first Ukrainian Stanley Cup winner. When his team was able to win the deciding game 2-1, he scored both goals.

After two more seasons in Tampa Bay, he signed in the summer of 2007, a contract with the New York Islanders. Here he became a regular fixture in the attack. Prior to the 2008/09 season he signed a contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins, with whom he could win the Stanley Cup in his first season at first. In October 2010 he signed a contract with the New York Rangers. As a free agent of the Ukrainians was equipped by the Philadelphia Flyers with a one-year contract in July 2012.

Due to the NHL lockout Fedotenko played between September 2012 and January 2013 for Donetsk Donbass HK in the Continental Hockey League.
