The Rüsselsheim station is a through station at kilometer 12.2 of the Main train from Mainz to Frankfurt am Main in Rüsselsheim. He is assigned to the Railway Station Category 3. The station is a suburban and regional train station. Next to him, there is the pure S-Bahn station Rüsselsheim Opel plant.

The station is located on the Main Railway and opened in 1863 in the tariff area of the Rhine -Main Transport Association ( RMV).

Rüsselsheim is a station of the S- Bahn Rhein -Main. Here keep the S -Bahn lines S8 and S9. These combine Rüsselsheim Wiesbaden, Mainz, Kelsterbach, Frankfurt, Offenbach, Hanau Mülheim and every quarter hour. The S8 Mainz Hauptbahnhof to Wiesbaden, while the S9 runs over the railway bridge Hochheim to Mainz -Kastel and on to Wiesbaden Hauptbahnhof.

On Rüsselsheim station also keep the RE trains of relations Koblenz Hbf -Frankfurt Hbf ( central Rhine -Main- Express) and Saarbrücken Hbf -Frankfurt Hbf (Near - Express) each every two hours, resulting in an approximately hourly clock to Mainz Hbf results. There are at peak times in individual RB connections to Idar-Oberstein and Bingen Hbf

Train wreck of Rüsselsheim

Near the Rüsselsheim train station, on 2 February 1990, the worst train accident in the Rhine -Main area in which an S -Bahn from Frankfurt am Main collided with a train from Wiesbaden and derailed occurred. In this case, 17 people died and over 80 were seriously injured.
