Russian Cup (football)

The Russian Football Cup (Russian: Кубок России по футболу ), is the national cup competition for club teams in the Russian football. He has been held since the 1992/93 season. At the discharged by the Russian Football Union competition involves teams from the three top divisions, with higher class teams enter later. In addition to the Premjer league he is the main football competition in the country. The winner of the trophy may participate in the following season to the playoff round of the UEFA Europa League.

The trophy is carried out in the knockout system. If in a game after 90 minutes still no winner is determined, only follows an extension and then, if necessary, a penalty shootout. The final was always held in a Moscow stadium since the introduction of competition. 2010 was the first time outside in Rostov-on- Don at the stadium Olimp- 2 instead.
