Rüştü Reçber ( born May 10, 1973 in Antalya ) is a former Turkish football goalkeeper who stood until 2012 when Beşiktaş Istanbul under contract.

Career

Club career

Rüştü began his career at Antalyaspor. In 1994 he moved to the Turkish giants Fenerbahce. After nine successful years, he went to Spain to Barcelona, where he was coach Frank Rijkaard, however, rarely or hardly started. In the summer of 2004, he returned on loan to Fenerbahçe.

In the season 2005/ 06 Rüştü lost his place at Fenerbahce and the Turkish national team Volkan Demirel also due to an injury.

For the season 2007/ 08 he moved (along with his teammate Mehmet Yozgatlı ) of Fenerbahce to league rivals Beşiktaş Istanbul, where he received a three-year contract. Although intended as an experienced goalkeeper, he had, particularly due to injury, leaving his place between the posts the younger goalkeeper Hakan Arıkan.

National

Rüştü was from 1995 goalkeeper in the national team and has played 120 internationals. He is most-capped player in Turkey. Turkey In 1996, the first part in a Football Championship - Rüştü was in all three games of the team in goal, but that had to go home after the first round. With the Football World Cup 2002 - first World Cup appearance of the Turks since 1954 and second at all - he reached with the Turkish national team to third place, was voted the second best goalkeeper of the tournament and appointed to the All- Star Team of the World Cup. He also came in third place in the election for World's Best Goalkeeper of the Year 2002. Until 2008, Turkey was no longer able to qualify for a major tournament. At the 2008 European Championships but Rüştü was once again the squad the team, but was not used in the preliminary round. Only in the quarter-final against Croatia was Rüştü, due to the red lock of his fellow goalkeeper Volkan, in the starting lineup. After the Croats were gone in the 119th minute lead when he hit a free kick from his own half of the ball in the 122nd minute into the penalty box and so prepared the balance of Turkey. In addition, he held the winning penalty Mladen Petric of and made therefore for the semi-finals of Turkey. In the semifinals, the Turkish Eleven different with 2:3 against Germany, Rüstü was involved by past mistakes instrumental in this. Rüştü, which still allowed to wear the captain's armband of the Turkish team one last time because of an injury from Nihat, announced his retirement from the national team. Despite this withdrawal, he was nominated for the World Cup qualifier against Spain again, in which he sat on the bench. He then decided to follow to continue. As Fatih Terim announced after the failed World Cup qualifying campaign in 2010 to step down as coach of the national team, also Rüstü announced his retirement from international football.

His retirement from the national team celebrated the keeper May 27, 2012 in a friendly against Finland. This Rüstü completed his einhundertzwanzigsten international duty.

Others

Rüştü Reçber was from August 2013 to February 2014 Team manager of the Turkish national football team. After his termination, the former goalkeeper was expert at pay- TV channels Lig TV.

Rüştü Reçber is married and has a son and a daughter.
