Ruth Henig, Baroness Henig

Family

Her parents were Kurt and Elfrieda Munzer, Jewish Flüchtlicnge who came from Holland to the United Kingdom 1940. She married in 1966, their fellow students Stanley Henig, the deputy in the lower house was. They have two children and were divorced in 1993. In 1994, she married Jack Johnstone.

Academic career

Henig studied at Regent College in Leicester and at Bedford College, where she in 1965 with a BA graduated in history. She received her PhD in 1978 at the Lancaster University with a PhD. in history. Political career

Henig sat from 1981 to 2005 for Labour in the Regional Assembly of Lancashire and was from 1999 to 2000, the chairman. From 1995 to 2005 she was chairman of the Lancashire Constabulary and Police Authority from 1997 to 2005 chairman of the Association of Police Authorities. In her spare time, Lady Henig likes to play Bridge. She is also interested in football and fan of Leicester City.
