Ryan Maki

Ryan Maki ( born April 23, 1985 in Medford, New Jersey ) is a retired American professional ice hockey player who played from 2010 to 2012 for the Hannover Scorpions played in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga.

Career

Ryan Maki began his career as a hockey player with the U.S. National Team Development Program, for which he ran aground 2001-2003 at the junior League North American Hockey League. He then attended Harvard University for four years and played for their hockey team in the National Collegiate Athletic Association. He won the 2004 and 2006 with his team the championship in each of ECAC Hockey.

Towards the end of the season 2006/ 07 Maki was for the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League debut in professional hockey. Previously, he had been selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 2005 by Milwaukee's partner Nashville Predators in the sixth round as the 176th overall player. In the following three years, the winger played almost exclusively for Milwaukee in the AHL and was in his last season with the Admirals assistant captain. Only towards the end of the season 2007/ 08 he was parallel in some games for the Cincinnati Cyclones in the ECHL on the ice, with which he could win the Kelly Cup.

For the season 2010/11 Maki received a contract with the Hannover Scorpions of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga. Despite a lucrative job offer from his home to the Harvard Graduate extended his contract in April 2011 at the Lower Saxony around another season. In summer 2012, Maki decided his professional career at the age of 27 years to finish, to accept a job in the free market economy.
