The Ryōgoku Station (Japanese両 国 駅, -eki Ryōgoku ) is located in Sumida -ku in Tokyo Prefecture. He is now a through station on the Chūō - sobu Line of JR Higashi- Nihon (JR East) and is used for transport. From 1904 to 1932 he worked as a head station of the starting point of the sobu Main Line.

History

On April 5, 1904, the station of the private railway company sobu tetsudō as Ryogokubashi station (両 国 桥, "Both provinces Bridge " ) was opened. He was a railway terminus starting point of sobu Main Line. The Ryogokubashi crosses the Sumida about a hundred yards south of the station. The name comes from the fact that the Sumida was the border between the former provinces of Musashi and Shimousa. 1907, the station was nationalized with the railway line and went into the possession of the State Railway ( kokutetsu ).

1931 received its present name of the station. A year later he was the extension of the sobu main line to Ochanomizu a through station. The new tracks were immediately south of the old laid, the head tracks initially remained in operation: Since the beginning only the new western part of the route was electrified, the train station was the starting point of many trains. Environment

The station is located on the east bank of the Sumida at the southern end of the district Yokoami, which immediately south of the station of the district Ryōgoku followed.
